Lakeshore Solar

On and Off Grid Solar Electric Systems and Installations

What we do

LakeShore Solar designs and installs on- and off-grid solar installations. Each installation is designed and customized to your needs and requirements.  An experienced, certified professional team working under an onsite project manager coordinates the installation and quality assures all tasks.

Using specialized teams for the various aspects of the solar installation lets us provide the best expertise for each task while reducing the overall cost.

Engineering and Design

Our solar designs rely on years of installation experience with a deep understanding of equipment capabilities and limitations.

Systems are warranted for the life of the asset, so the financial results you expect are the returns that are achieved.

Lakeshore Solar provides a monitoring system that will show the production and status of your solar power installation as well as calculating equivalent environmental benefits.  Real-time performance of the system can be monitored both remotely and as a display in a public place of your business.

Roofing

A building owner should know that even a detached, ballasted solar system sitting on a roof, can easily invalidate the original roofing warranty. As part of our installation, Lakeshore Solar can correct any roofing deficiencies, and will insure the existing roof warranty is amended to reflect the addition of the solar installation.

Staying on top of changes in the roofing industry is an increasingly complex job. Everything from waterproofing to adhesives to roofing materials are constantly evolving and improving. A contractor must maintain expertise in new synthetic materials, chemical compounds and equipment technology as well as employee training, safety and customer service.

Solar Installation Wiring & Grid Interconnection

Our Electricians are North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP). Whether you need a rooftop self-ballasted system with no penetrations in the roof, a solar carport, or a ground-mounted system, we custom design and build your project to maximize efficiency and productivity.

Finance

Your organization may be structured as a REIT, LLC or other non-taxable entity such as a municipality, school or church. Lakeshore Solar can arrange financial structuring to facilitate the harvesting of any available ITC, MACRS, SRECS, and other solar incentives. If there are needs to reduce or eliminate the upfront capital investment, LakeShore Solar has relationships with large financial institutions that can facilitate these needs, while still meeting your financial goals.

Solar power isn’t just the future – it’s the present.  A new solar project is installed every two minutes in the United States.  Businesses everywhere are embracing solar power, and it’s time your company caught up.  Consider these advantages:

Save the planet

Reducing our carbon footprint is a moral imperative.

The burning of fossil fuels, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, generates approximately 67% of electricity in the U.S.  Fossil fuels are the leading cause of climate change. Generating electric power causes over a third of all green house gas emissions in the United States (source: Environmental Protection Agency).

While the price of fossil fuel electricity seems relatively cheap, the myriad costs born from its production–such as health issues, environmental cleanup costs and the current and future expenses of adapting to a warmer world–are not included in the electric bill.

Buildings account for 39 percent of all carbon emissions in the United States.  Most of these emissions come from the combustion of fossil fuels to provide heating, cooling and lighting, and to power appliances and electrical equipment.  Converting to solar is likely the biggest change you can make to fight global warming.

Save Money

An obvious reason to switch to solar is to reduce your monthly energy bill.  Additionally, many businesses don’t realize that they can actually save money and make up for the cost of the entire solar power system within a few years.  EnergySage marketplace data reveals that the average commercial property owner’s electricity bill drops 75 percent after switching to solar.  After the three to seven years it typically takes businesses to pay off their solar panel systems, they can enjoy free energy for the system’s lifetime, which is often upwards of 35 years.

Increase Your Property Value

History has shown that buildings with solar power systems have a higher property value and sell faster at a higher price.  At the same time, that increase in property value will not show up in your real estate taxes as many jurisdictions in the United States provide exemptions for the value of solar power installations.

Set an Example – Be known as a “Green” Business

Installing a solar power system shows that your business is committed to sustainability. Many consumers and communities are more likely to support businesses that are environmentally responsible, and 30 percent of consumers prioritize their spending at socially responsible companies. Going solar also offers you the opportunity to promote your business within your community and raise awareness on the benefits of saving energy. By building your brand as eco-friendly, you can improve your company image and increase revenue.

Boost Your Team’s Morale

Just as consumers want to shop at eco-friendly businesses, employees want to work for socially responsible companies. Nearly three-quarters of Americans want to work for an environmentally aware company that promotes corporate responsibility. Multiple studies have shown that the more positive employees feel about their work, the higher their engagement and morale. Show your employees that you are committed to sustainability and you can inspire them to support your company’s mission.

Enjoy the Benefits of a Reliable, Maintenance-Free System.

A Measurable Difference

Converting to solar is likely the biggest change you can make to fight global warming

To get a sense for how much benefit to the environment can be achieved by converting to solar power let’s look at a typical apartment community in Atlanta, GA.  We will assume the property has an average monthly electric bill of $400 for the offices and community common spaces.  At 11.88 cents per kWH (2016 average), that’s 3,367 kWH per month.  A 20 kW net metered solar system would offset approximately 85% of the monthly electric use or 2,833 kWH per month!

CO2 and Global Warming

97% of climate scientists agree that global warming is likely due to human activities beginning with the advent of the industrial age and is proceeding at a rate that is unprecedented in our history.

The Big Sunny Picture

Solar energy is far and away the most plentiful source of energy.  Just 18 days of sunshine on Earth contains the same amount of energy as is stored in all of the planet’s reserves of coal, oil, and natural gas.
